Activate Edmonton South

An awesome place to come get a good work out in and just have fun! I highly recommend checking it out and you'll surely be hooked! Only recommendation is if you could set up a subscription service like the gyms offer! If you could have something like that I'm sure it would bring in more people. I would cancel my gym membership in a heart beat just to come here more often. The discount is nice once you come more than five times but I still believe a subscription service would do you justice and bring in more revenue. Thanks for all the fun and laughs you've been able to bring me and my friends! keep up the good work.

What an amazing experience. We went there for a work team building and we had lots of fun and got a good workout as well. So many options to choose from, you will definitely be entertained for the time that you are there. I will definitely be back with my family. I agree with one of the other reviews that the speakers in some could be a little louder to hear some of the instructions better.

This was so much fun! For $25 it is worth every penny. Some of the games were confusing but the mega and laser games were by far the best. Will definitely be coming back here. Only complaint would be that you can only play 1-2 games until the people behind you kick you out, and some games only last 30 seconds. The speakers need to be louder to hear what the game is saying and maybe have some AC in there. The minutes you pay for should count for in game minutes, not actual time. Other than that is was such a blast, I'm amazed at the technology it takes to create these games! Make sure to bring running shoes and something you can run in as there's a lot of running, jumping and ducking! Bring a water bottle too as it gets hot and tiring. There is a water fountain if you need. Staff were super friendly and explained how it works. I hope more of these show up around the city

I've been to Activate twice -- once with my hockey team and once for my daughter's birthday. There is a lot of variety in the games, and I really think that anyone will be able to find at least one game that interests him/her or that he/she excels at. While the physical activity aspect of the games is most emphasized, it's important to point out that the majority of the games also require more than physical ability -- observation, memory, planning, communication, problem solving and even spelling. From a physical activity point of view, if you allow yourself to get into the games you'll realize that not only are they a lot of fun, but they also provide you with a surprisingly good workout. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are lockers in which you can store your belongings so that they don't fall out of your pockets or bother you while you're playing the games. The facility was nice and clean and well ventilated. My first minor complaint was that in a couple of the activity rooms certain equipment didn't work. For example, a couple of the floor sensors in a couple of the rooms that we visited didn't work. It's not surprising that occasionally some equipment will need repair or replacement given the volume of people going through the facility. Foot sensors, by their nature, take a beating. My second minor complaint is the lack of a change/locker room. Being at South Edmonton Common shopping area, it's natural that people might want to do other things in the area aside from visiting Activate. To that end it would be nice to have a convenient place to change into nicer (not sweaty) clothes after your hour-and-a-quarter of exercise (and not feel and look like you just left the gym). Overall, though, Activate is an outstanding facility. Great concept, variety, staff, reasonable pricing and a great experience for groups.

Do kids realise how lucky they are that places like this exist nowadays? I fricken wish I had this when I was younger Amazing concept, lots of fun, best way to spend ~$30 for a weekend afternoon. My only thing is that I think the interior and construction could use a little polish, but everything was functional and seamless from a technology that works perspective.

So much fun! The variety of games was great, I just wish you could play at least 2-3 rounds before getting kicked out by another team behind you. It was super busy so I totally understand, it was just a bit hard to have to go back to the super physical games over and over. Other than that, Hailey made our intro really smooth and easy to understand so we could just jump right in and play. The staff was also quick to fix an out of order game which we got to enjoy later in our session and that was much appreciated. Definitely want to come back!
